Relay Technician Sr Job Description

LCRA is seeking a skilled Relay Technician Sr to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of protective relays and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and systems.
  • Install, maintain, and test protective relays and other electrical equipment.
  • Provide technical support to other LCRA employees and customers.
  • Maintain and update knowledge of electrical protection testing principles and practices.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Meet all safety and quality standards.
Requirements:
  • Five or more years of experience in the construction and/or maintenance of power substation protection, diagnostic, monitoring and/or control systems or other relevant experience.
  • A degree(s) in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, computer science or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Commissioning and maintaining protective devices in electric transmission substations operating above 69kV.
  • Electro-mechanical and microprocessor-based protective relays.
  • Use of Doble F6150 test sets and Enoserv RTS testing software.
