Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Ministerial Chaplain to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing senior-level ministerial clinical and administrative work to plan, coordinate, and direct activities, programs, and training for chaplaincy services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and coordinate services for all spiritual/religious activities and facilitate integrated worship and social activities.
  • Conduct regular and special spiritual/religious services, and provide pastoral care and counseling to residents, their families, and employees as needed.
  • Participate in state-wide chaplaincy meetings and efforts to coordinate state-wide chaplaincy services and programs.
  • Potentially supervise the work of a Clinical Chaplain (Chaplain II), Chaplaincy Services Assistant, and/or an Administrative Assistant (AA).

Requirements:
  • Knowledge of faith spiritual/religious beliefs, and practices of various faith traditions and non-religious spiritualities.
  • Knowledge of the professional literature in the field.
  • Skills in counseling clients and their families.
  • Skills in the use of a computer and applicable software.
  • Ability to provide sacramental services, develop new chaplaincy programs, network, and build relationships with faith communities, and with social justice agencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to supervise the work of others.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in accordance with state laws, board policies, Texas Administrative Code, and State Supported Living Center (SSLC) policies and procedures. Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, and extended shift in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
