Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Floor Technician to join our team at Long Beach Healthcare Center. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily floor cleaning and maintenance tasks, including buffing, stripping, and waxing of floors.
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on cove base and tiles in resident rooms.
  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program to ensure a safe and compliant environment.
  • Operate various cleaning equipment, including auto scrubbers and burnishers.
  • Prepare vacant units for new residents, ensuring they meet our company's standards and checklist.
  • Ensure assigned work areas are maintained in a safe and attractive manner.
  • Perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge and prior use of burnisher, auto scrubber, and side-by-side scrubber/water extraction equipment.
  • Knowledge of application of wax products, strippers, cleaners, and other chemicals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment:

This is a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility and adaptability. You will be working in all areas of the facility, interacting with residents, staff, and visitors. You must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.

You will be subject to frequent interruptions, hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc. You must be able to communicate effectively with the maintenance personnel, nursing staff, and other department supervisors.

You will be required to work beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. You must be able to attend and participate in continuing educational programs.

You will be subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.

You will be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.

You must maintain a liaison with other department directors to adequately plan for food services/activities.

You may be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a mental and physical examination.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Moves intermittently during working hours (walking 60%, standing 40%, climbing 10%).
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 35 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
