About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and attentive Surgical Assistant to join our team at Fairfax Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting our oral surgeon during dental procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the oral surgeon during consultations and treatment
  • Perform basic lab duties, including impressions and model preparation
  • Ensure proper instrument cleaning and sterilization in accordance with infection control protocols
  • Operate the autoclave and maintain surgical trays
  • Set up and break down rooms for IV anesthesia and surgery
  • Review patient charts and prepare for procedures
  • Provide exceptional patient care and communication
Non-Surgical Responsibilities
  • Restock supplies and forms
  • Take vital signs and familiarize yourself with patient charts
  • Perform administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments and filing
  • Make follow-up phone calls to patients
  • May take X-rays and assist with other clerical duties
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Dental X-ray license (Pano, PA, CBCT) required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program
  • Certification as a Surgical Assistant
Work Environment

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8-hour shift. You will be working in a fast-paced oral surgery environment, requiring strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
