RN - CDI Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled RN - CDI Specialist to join our team at Reid Health. As a Second Level Reviewer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient documentation. Your expertise will help us provide high-quality care to our patients and improve our clinical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Perform post-discharge, final coded, pre-bill reviews of target case presentations to verify that all conditions are accurately reported.
- Coordinate with front-line CDSs to query physicians for additional documentation or specificity to ensure completeness and accuracy of the medical record.
- Monitor and educate CDI team to ensure clinically credible, effective, and compliant query practices.
- Respond to CDS requests for concurrent chart reviews.
- Analyze reports and data to identify trends, ascertain areas of opportunity, and provide education to facility-based CDSs and physicians based on this analysis.
- Respond to requests for clinical review and perspective on those cases when the CDS and Coder cannot reconcile the final DRG.
- Validate the appropriateness of Coder requests to withdraw an outstanding query.
- Respond to HIM coding requests for review from a clinical perspective.
- Assist with query escalation to the Physician Champions.
- Develop and promote collaborative processes with CDS, Coding and Compliance, and strong working relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals to accomplish program goals and ensure exceptional documentation.
- ASN or Associate of Science in Health Information Management.
- 2 or more years working in an acute care setting or ambulatory office setting. Previous experience in CDI.
- Registered Nurse as applicable.
