Reporting to the Director of Cardio/Pulmonary/Neurology/Sleep Disorders, the Respiratory Therapist provides a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care services for in-patients and out-patients of all ages.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality respiratory care services, adhering to established standards and protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Conduct diagnostic tests and procedures, such as pulmonary function tests and arterial blood gas analysis.
- Administer medications and treatments, including oxygen therapy and aerosolized medications.
- Monitor patient vital signs and respond to changes in their condition.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent required; Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy (RT) program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.
- Experience: Previous RT experience strongly preferred; Previous patient care experience preferred; Appropriate clinical rotations during the RT program are considered as satisfactory experience.
- Licensure and/or Certification: Must have current licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Respiratory Therapist; RRT from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required; BLS healthcare provider required; NPR certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to make patients comfortable during procedures; Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English; Computer skills required; Ability to maintain confidential information.
