Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Lead consultants and technical teams to deliver high-quality project design and implementation documents, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project schedules.
  • Schedule Management: Collaborate with Project Managers and PICs to develop and manage production schedules, including defining and meeting deadlines.
  • Implementation Documentation: Prepare, review, and coordinate implementation documents, ensuring they conform to QA/QC and HKS standards, best practices, and quality expectations.
  • Technical Coordination: Manage technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of a project, including leading consultant team work sessions.
  • Code Analysis: Lead the development of code analysis and confirm that code and zoning requirements for assigned segments of projects are met.
  • Design Group Interaction: Coordinate design group interaction both internally and externally, including leading consultant team work sessions.
  • Client and Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with project managers, clients, public agencies, consultants, and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, respond to requests for information, clarifications, and modifications, and obtain approvals and adjust scope of services.
  • Client Presentations: Prepare client presentations and present design concepts and drawings.
  • Product Research: Perform product research and assist project designers with materials and systems evaluation to make proper selections.
  • Team Leadership: Lead team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues, and coordination with other disciplines.
  • On-Site Visits and Field Reviews: Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings and document as appropriate.
  • Meeting Minutes: Prepare and/or review meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetings.
  • Staff Development: Actively invest in the professional development of staff through mentoring, performance management, and career planning.
  • Talent Development: Develop, recognize, recruit, and grow diverse talent.
  • Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflict effectively and encourage a healthy team environment.
  • Design Excellence: Promote the firm's principles of 'design excellence' through the integration of responsible and sustainable design practice with the art of design.
  • Accounting and Budgeting: Understand fundamental accounting principles and the project accounting process, collaborate in delivering a project on defined budget requirements, and maintain accountability to project plan and planned utilization rate.
  • Business Development: Collaborate in and may be responsible for delivering a project on defined budget requirements, understand contract and recognize additional services needed, and may participate in the pursuit and marketing of potential projects.
Qualifications
  • Accredited Professional Degree: Accredited professional degree in Architecture.
  • Architectural Registration: Architectural Registration required.
  • Experience: Typically 8+ years of experience.
  • Sustainable Design Accreditation: Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Revit, architectural software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, and 3D modeling software preferred, experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign software preferred, and proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines, advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, accessibility guidelines, and QA/QC process, advanced knowledge of building codes, and ability to research and incorporate into implementation documents.
  • Skills: Strong presentation skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time, ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships, and ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in writing.
