Pediatric Speech and Language Pathologist

This position is hiring a Speech and Language Pathologist to participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team providing early childhood intervention and family support resources to children birth through five years of age with or at risk for disabilities and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide speech and language assessments and evaluations for children who have more complex diagnoses.
• Provide speech-language intervention to enrolled children, instruct parents and other caregivers in communication-related activities to attain desired outcomes, and provide consultation and technical assistance to other staff and community paraprofessionals, professionals, and agencies.
• Participate in activities to support the mission of providing a broad range of family-centered resources, engaging in research studies, and providing professional development and resources to the early intervention community at large.
Requirements:
• Basic knowledge of the application of professional speech and language pathology theory, techniques, principles, and/or procedures.
• Prior experience with pediatric speech-language pathology.
• Knowledgeable of speech-language assessment and intervention as well as typical/atypical development of children birth through five years, specialized equipment for children birth through five years, family systems theories, and family-centered practice.
• The speech-language pathologist must be skilled in communicating with families, assisting families in identifying strengths, goals, resources, and individualized plans of action.
• Must be able to work collaboratively with numerous FIPP staff and diverse community and professional contacts.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Licensed by the Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologist.
• Trainee Appointment - Master's degree in speech and language pathology from an appropriately accredited institution as required by the N to be eligible for granting of a temporary license issued by the N.Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathologist and Audiologist.

The Family, Infant and Preschool Program (FIPP) is a community-based component of the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. FIPP is an early childhood intervention and family support program that has been producing research and providing supports and services in western North Carolina since 1972. The overall mission of the program is to promote optimal health and development of young children, especially those with or at risk for disabilities, through supporting and strengthening families in ways that enhance their growth and well-being; and to promote the dissemination of research, resources, and professional development opportunities to improve the delivery of services to families and children.
