Job Description

As a Fiber Network Project Manager at Fibersmith, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating multiple projects throughout the entire project life cycle. This includes building and managing project teams by providing support, training, and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with customers, contracts, and internal resources to define project scope, technical requirements, and goals.
  • Create long- and short-term plans for each project, prioritizing schedule, setting targets for milestones, and allocating resources.
  • Direct on-site supervision of construction management and construction inspection field staff.
  • Review inspector reports for daily progress and as-built quantities.
  • Maintain office records and validate timesheets.
  • Prepare status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant information.
  • Communicate regularly with leadership to ensure projects align with business goals.
  • Make effective decisions when presented with multiple options for project progression.
  • Perform quality control on projects throughout development to maintain expected standards.
  • Identify, escalate, and solve project issues, creating strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning.
  • Successfully manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Coordinate cross-discipline team members, delegating tasks to employees best positioned to complete them.
  • Serve as a point of contact for team members when multiple teams are assigned to the same project.
  • Build commitment within the team and motivate team members to complete tasks on time.
  • Maintain staff by assisting in the selection, orientation, and training process.
  • Accomplish staff results by coaching employees, evaluating performance, conflict management, providing feedback, and developing growth opportunities.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and interactions with contractors, customers, vendors, co-workers, etc.
  • Lead by example.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience within ISP/OSP fiber optic construction.
  • Proficient knowledge of aerial and underground construction.
  • Knowledge of RUS units and definitions.
  • Familiarity with contracts.
  • Knowledge of FTTX design and implementation of that design.
  • Familiarity with staking and OSP collection tools and methodology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft: Excel, Outlook.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, neatness, thoroughness, and clarity in work.
  • Flexibility, ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Teamwork - Considers and seeks out the impact of his/her actions in the team.
  • Self-directed with initiative to perform weekly, monthly, periodical tasks as assigned.
  • Desire to grow, accept additional responsibilities.
  • Initiative in problem solving and maintaining good relationships.
  • Physically capable of being in the field and maintaining presence at the job site.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
