Job Summary:

UCAN is seeking a skilled Youth Development Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Violence Intervention & Prevention Services (VIPS) department, you will work with youth aged 18-35 who face challenges and difficulties as they navigate through our program levels.

Key Responsibilities:

⁠⁠ Identify and engage youth through community outreach and referrals from schools, juvenile justice, community-based organizations, and UCAN continuum of care programs.
⁠⁠ Utilize UCAN's Clinical Philosophy to facilitate healing through trauma-informed services and Positive Youth Development, providing support and encouragement to participants for positive behavior, goal achievement, involvement in school and services, and leadership opportunities.
⁠⁠ Coordinate resources and support program referrals and participants.

Requirements:

⁠⁠ Bachelor's degree in a human service field or equivalent experience in child welfare or youth development/outreach.
⁠⁠ Strong understanding of the effects of trauma and ability to operate from that perspective when interacting with youth and families.
⁠⁠ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.
