Job Summary

The Town of Warrenton is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Water Safety and Aquatics Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our aquatics department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality water safety programs to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Develop and implement lesson plans for various water safety programs, ensuring a safe and engaging experience for participants.
  • Activity Design: Design and conduct activities that promote learning, skill development, and enjoyment for participants of all ages.
  • Safety and Emergency Response: Maintain continuous watch on program participants to ensure safety and prevent injury, and respond quickly to emergency situations.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, responding to questions and concerns in a positive and professional manner.
  • Equipment Management: Issue and ensure the return of program equipment and supplies to their stored location.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Aquatics Supervisor and Assistant Directors to ensure the success of our aquatics programs.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: One (1) year of related work experience in a customer service position involving contact with the public.
  • Certifications: Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and Current CPR and First Aid Certifications.
  • Skills: Effective communication skills, time management skills, and ability to work a flexible schedule.
Working Conditions

This is primarily sedentary work, occasionally requiring movement about the facility, requiring the exertion of up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Work requires reaching, fingering, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work; on rare occasion, may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
