About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Engineer to join our team at Moody Center in Austin, Texas. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our facility's mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the venue.

Responsibilities
  • Operate, monitor, repair, and maintain the facility's audio-visual, environmental controls, emergency power, electrical, HVAC, and lighting systems.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks, including re-lamping, replacing ceiling tiles, filters, and belts.
  • Record and log all work performed, complete work order slips, and compile required reports in a timely and complete manner.
  • Assist other Operation Department divisions to expedite event conversions as needed.
  • Promote a safe working environment for all employees by following the life safety and emergency program.
  • Respond to routine, precautionary, and emergency alarms from building automation and life safety systems.
  • Maintain walls (interior and exterior) of the entire complex, including all drywall repairs, sanding, and repainting.
  • Maintain inventory of paint and supplies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of construction experience.
  • Familiarity with operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility.
  • Some general knowledge in plumbing, electrical wiring, and ventilating systems to assist the HVAC and Electrical technicians as needed.
  • Understanding of door hardware, locks, key machine, door closers, etc.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and other related materials.
  • Ability to follow and adhere to all safety precautions, building codes, rules, regulations, risk management, and emergency procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
