Job Summary:

As an Extrusion Operator at Phoenix Closures, you will play a crucial role in the production of high-quality plastic foam. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the operation of a high-temperature plastic extrusion and slitting line, ensuring the production of close-tolerance triple-layer plastic foam. You will monitor and adjust the process to produce quality finished rolled goods, providing support to the Production Department as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

• Order materials to specified work centers
• Load materials, clean out hoppers, and assist the Extrusion Tech in lacing up the line with the extruded sheet of hot melt to the winder
• Manually cut over and start new winder rolls
• Lift finished rolls from the machine, package them, and request warehouse pickup
• Use a lift to clear the trim removal system and hand-held measuring devices to check slit width on finished rolls and sheet thickness

Additional Responsibilities:

• Identify nonconforming material and sort and dispose of it appropriately
• Segregate scrap material, move it to the reclaim room for reprocessing, and support the reclaim equipment and process to convert scrap material back into pellets
• Relieve other employees during breaks, backup for other shifts, and cover for absences/vacations on other shifts
• Follow all GMP guidelines, adhere to all safety rules, procedures, and Code of Conduct, and complete necessary documentation for the slitter
• Perform various ERP requirements using a computer

Requirements:

• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
• Mechanical aptitude and good mathematical skills
• Forklift/scissor lift training and maintenance of license
• 1-2 years of experience in a plastic production environment, machine operating experience, and familiarity with large processing equipment and GMP
