Purchasing Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to support our team at State Wire and Terminal, Inc. As a Purchasing Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our supply chain by working closely with multiple departments to determine their supply needs, place orders, and assist in finding the tools they need to perform their jobs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain current vendor pricing and negotiate contracts as needed
  • Process purchase orders, follow up on delays, and maintain strong working relationships with vendors
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels via cycle counting and ordering an appropriate amount of product before it is at critical levels
  • Conduct research to find suitable suppliers and manage vendor contracts
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar position is desired, but not required
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of the supply chain and common issues surrounding it is a plus
  • Ability to multitask and shift priorities as needed
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
