Job Title: Virtual School Psychologist

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled Virtual School Psychologist to join our team. As a Virtual School Psychologist, you will play a critical role in supporting students with various mental health and developmental issues, and aid in qualifying students for additional support services.

Job Summary:

The Virtual School Psychologist will provide on-site psychological services to students under the jurisdiction of the state and district. This position requires a strong understanding of psychological principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct multi-factored evaluations (initial and re-evaluations) in compliance with state regulations within a designated timeframe
  • Conduct pre-referral consultation/intervention
  • Monitor student's response to curriculum modifications
  • Serve as an instructional intervention specialist who plans intervention and individual education
  • Perform Psycho-educational assessments
  • Consult individually, or in groups, with students and/or parents or other personnel on matters relating to the education and mental health of the students to ensure the development and provision of the most appropriate education program
  • Participate in on-going training/in-servicing related job duties
  • Consult with teachers and other team members on an ongoing basis
  • Serve as a technical assistant for the support of implementation of RTI in the assigned schools (if applicable)
  • Conduct an evaluation of each student assigned which shall include, but not limited to:
  • Conducting pre-diagnostic meetings in order to determine scope and sequence of needed evaluations
  • Interviewing the student
  • Observing classroom behaviors
  • Consulting the student's parents and teacher(s)
  • Reviewing the student's academic history and current educational functioning
  • Conducting psycho-educational evaluations of the child's learning process and level of educational achievement
  • Administering specialized evaluations specific to the nature of the child's problems
  • Conducting Functional Behavior Analysis for student, if required
  • Helping create Behavior Intervention Plan for student, if required (consultation with team members required)
  • Attending pre-referral and screening team meetings in buildings assigned
  • Entering information regarding the psycho-educational evaluation on CRT at least 24 hours prior to the extended IEP team meeting (as applicable per client/state requirement)
  • Participating in the extended IEP team meetings and other such procedures as necessary, including manifestation determination review meetings
  • As part of the team, determining the nature of a child's problems through a full case study evaluation
  • Attending PAEC meetings, completing psychological evaluation reports, and scheduling/chairing prediagnostic meetings (PDM's)
  • Participating in other duties based on the needs of students and programs. These may include teacher in-service, counseling, screening of students (preschool, etc.), parent groups, supervision of interns, research of ongoing programs, and development of new programs
  • Maintaining client information in a secure and confidential manner consistent with client and local procedures, as well as guidelines set forth by the State and State Board of Psychology
Requirements:
  • Must maintain current State licensures and/or certifications in state of assignment
  • Experience in pediatric and adolescent population is preferred
  • Master's degree in psychology preferred
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
