Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our small team responsible for upholding the cleanliness and maintenance of our apartment buildings. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including painting, cleaning, basic plumbing, and repairs. If you have experience working with tools and a basic understanding of maintenance issues, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, painting, and repairs
  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of electrical systems, ventilation, and refrigeration systems
  • Inspect alarm systems and schedule repairs as needed
  • Conduct pest control activities, including spraying insecticide
  • Perform general upkeep procedures, including landscaping and other tasks as assigned
  • Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they meet health and safety standards
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
  • Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtime
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
  • A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the highest level of integrity

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 to 10 years of experience in apartment maintenance
  • Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology, or relevant field
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sustain prolonged periods of standing and/or capable of extensive walking, climbing of stairs and ladders
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces
  • Must be capable of lifting/carrying a minimum of 50 pounds by applying proper body mechanics
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation for this position ranges from $20 to $23/hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This full-time position is not exempt from overtime pay under federal and state wage and hour laws, which means that it is eligible for overtime time pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a given workweek. GY Properties currently requires the COVID-19 vaccination for all employees, other than those with religious or medical exemptions. This is a full-time in-office position.
