Lighthouse Lab Services is seeking a highly skilled Microbiology Lead Tech/Medical Lab Scientist to join our team in Evansville, IN. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring activities of the technical section(s) and its staff to ensure quality technical services, financial accountability, and compliance with all policies and procedures for quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Monitor the performance of technical procedures in designated sections, including timeliness, validity, and accuracy of test analysis, records, and quality control.
- Assist with the supervision of section personnel, including scheduling, making work assignments, interviewing and recommending hiring decisions, conducting employee performance appraisals, and recommending personnel for retraining.
- Coordinate the operation of equipment and instrumentation and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Perform and maintain competence on technical procedures, using a variety of instruments, automation, and manual procedures to assess and make recommendations for technical and workflow improvements.
- Conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with documentation of technical information, including evaluating quality control results and corrective action outliers, documenting calibration, preventive maintenance, and reagent preparation, and reporting results by lab computer, manual requisition, phone, or fax.
- Three or more years' experience in the technical section or area of a clinical laboratory.
- Previous management or supervisory experience is helpful.
- Must possess effective management and good communication skills.
- Must understand the use and limitations of diagnostic instruments and specific functions.
- Must be familiar with all department methods and collection techniques.
- Must use considerable initiative and judgment to manage personnel and overall workflow.
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree with specialized training in Medical Technology or a directly related field.
- Certified as an MLS by ASCP maintaining certification while employed.
