We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Library Assistant. This role will provide public service by answering patron questions and providing directional assistance in the library. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, updating, or deleting holdings records, assisting in the processing of library materials, sorting and distributing mail, and performing opening and closing desk procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome and direct patrons to library resources.
  • Check in and out library materials.
  • Issue library cards and maintain patron accounts.
  • Ensure patron privacy and confidentiality.
  • Identify and resolve patron concerns as related to circulation functions.
  • Answer and route incoming telephone calls.
  • Complete special projects within the department.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • One or more years of customer service experience, with six months of clerical library experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with the Monarch Library System is preferred.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary of $14.00 per hour.
