Job Summary

The Rehabilitation Technician plays a vital role in supporting the mission of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare by providing exceptional care and services to patients in the Outpatient Rehabilitation department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist licensed clinicians with the implementation of treatment plans under their direction and supervision.
  • Perform general cleaning and organization of the environment of care, supporting services provided by occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, speech pathologists, and other rehabilitation specialists.
  • Assist with patient care under the direction of licensed therapists, including transporting and escorting patients between nursing pods and the rehabilitation department.
  • Participate in community re-entry activities under a plan of care established by the rehabilitation team.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks, restock linens, and maintain equipment temperatures as per policy.
  • Process mail, type, fax, photocopy, file, and process medical records for the department.
  • Answer phones, schedule outpatients, and coordinate the rehabilitation unit patient therapy schedule.
  • Track, enter, and verify daily records of charges in the computer.
  • Order supplies and maintain inventories as directed by the department leader.
  • Maintain competency and pursue ongoing learning through attendance at departmental and system in-services, workshops, and conferences.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of patient cultural, psychosocial, ethnic, and religious needs.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and courteous manner, providing care and communication consistent with customer satisfaction and service excellence strategies.
  • Participation in team/unit meetings and conferences to facilitate coordinated care and communication.
