Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Nutritionist to join our team at the Connecticut Institute for Communities, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Program Nutritionist with all nutrition-related program components, including planning, implementation, and compliance with federal and state requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct complete WIC nutrition assessments and determine nutritional risk of WIC participants.
  • Assign and tailor WIC food packages for participants and ensure proper certification of eligible applicants.
  • Assist with the implementation of the nutrition and breastfeeding promotion and support component of the local agency plan.
  • Provide and document nutrition education, counseling, and breastfeeding support appropriate to the WIC participant(s).
  • Refer WIC participants to other appropriate resources as needed.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition, Community Nutrition, Nutrition Education, or Nutritional Sciences from a four-year institution accredited by a recognized regional accrediting body.
  • Preferably has credentials of a Registered Dietitian (R.D.) or eligibility with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Commission on Dietetic Registration; if applicable, has State license or certified as a nutritionist/dietitian.
  • A Master's degree in Nutritional Sciences, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, or Home Economics with a major in Foods and Nutrition may be considered with equivalent subject matter completed at the graduate level.
