Food Service Cashier - Nutritional Services

Position Type:
Food Service/ Cashier

Rate of Pay:
Probation rate - $11.77 Regular Rate - $13.29

Working Hours:
10:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.; 3.5 hours per day, 5 days a week

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize a point of sale system to accurately record daily transactions
  • Maintain precise daily records of meals served to students, categorized accordingly
  • Keep detailed logs of adult meal sales, student prepayments, milk, and a la carte transactions
  • Ensure correct pricing for food items, manage cash transactions, and prepare daily financial deposits
  • Oversee student meal choices to ensure adherence to federal nutritional guidelines
  • Assist in the disposal of waste and the cleaning of dining areas
  • Support food preparation and portioning, as well as the upkeep of service stations
  • Adhere to sanitation and safety standards consistently
  • Engage effectively with students, staff, parents, and supervisors
  • Provide assistance to the manager or lead cook with data entry tasks
  • Help in the evaluation of Meal Benefit Applications
  • Execute responsibilities in alignment with the established Cashier Handbook
  • Demonstrate a commitment to supporting behavioral and academic initiatives
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and foster positive relationships with a diverse student body
  • Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
Physical Requirements:
The cashier must be capable of standing for extended periods, operating kitchen equipment, lifting items, and navigating stairs.

Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • Completion of designated training within the first year of employment is necessary
  • Experience with computers is preferred
