Scheck Hillel Community School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Middle School Academic Advisor to join our team. This role is pivotal in fostering the academic and personal growth of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance to students regarding their academic, personal, and social development.
- Mediate conflicts and coordinate individualized academic and behavioral plans.
- Facilitate student-focused meetings at each grade level.
- Organize and conduct parent-teacher conferences and staff meetings.
- Identify and monitor the behavioral, emotional, and academic needs of students.
- Conduct individual and group sessions to address various issues affecting students.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive guidance curriculum aimed at enhancing social, emotional, and cognitive skills.
- Offer individual, developmental, preventative, and crisis counseling as needed.
- Identify community and school resources, maintaining a referral list for students.
- Plan for the transition of students at the end of the academic year.
- Collaborate with the admissions team to interview prospective students and coordinate their orientation.
- Supervise students during school events, including field trips and assemblies.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will possess a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role, specifically with middle school-aged children. Strong communication and listening skills are essential, along with proficiency in organization, technology, and multitasking. The ability to navigate sensitive and confidential situations is required. A Master's degree and relevant certification in the state of Florida are preferred.
