Job Summary

The Psychiatric Technician plays a vital role in providing nursing care and milieu management in an acute mental health treatment setting. This position requires a strong understanding of psychiatric illness and its treatment, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients
  • Administer medication and treatments as prescribed by physicians
  • Perform vital signs and follow escalation pathways as needed
  • Participate in classes and workshops to enhance patient care
  • Coordinate end-of-episode care and After Visit summaries
  • Document patient information accurately and in a timely manner
  • Participate in unit activities and report observations to the care team
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program or equivalent
  • Current Psychiatric Technician license in California
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations governing mental health services in California
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and communicate effectively with patients and colleagues
