Position Overview:

The Customer Service Representative at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to our clients. This position is dedicated to ensuring that all inquiries from both internal and external customers are addressed with professionalism and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engage with customers through inbound calls and online chats, providing assistance and resolving issues as needed.
  2. Process sales orders using our customer relationship management (CRM) system, ensuring accuracy and timely confirmation to clients.
  3. Communicate product pricing, availability, and lead times effectively, utilizing internal resources and collaboration with various departments.
  4. Manage order holds by coordinating with internal teams such as Accounting and Compliance to ensure swift resolution.
  5. Maintain and update customer accounts in our database, ensuring all information is accurate and verified.
  6. Exhibit strong problem-solving skills, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Demonstrate excellent communication skills, actively listening to customer needs and providing appropriate solutions.
  8. Initiate follow-up calls to customers as necessary to ensure satisfaction and address any outstanding issues.
  9. Provide support to the customer service team during peak times or staff shortages to maintain service levels.
  10. Respond promptly to internal and customer emails, ensuring clear and professional communication.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Strong understanding of customer service principles and practices.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate effectively.
  • Familiarity with Great Plains software is a plus.

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma is required, while a bachelor's degree is preferred. Candidates should have at least one year of experience in a customer support role or similar environment.
