Faculty Positions in Statistics and Data Sciences

The Department of Statistics and Data Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for tenure-track/tenured faculty positions in statistics and data sciences. We seek candidates with research programs in theoretical, computational, and application-driven statistics and machine learning.
Candidates with research programs broadly aligned with scientific machine learning and/or generative AI are particularly encouraged to apply. The department is internationally recognized for its excellence in research in statistical methodology and theory, machine learning, applied statistics, data science, and biostatistics.
The department offers a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary research within the College of Natural Sciences and across the Dell Medical School, the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences, the Population Research Center, the Machine Learning Laboratory, and the Center for Generative AI.
Austin, the capital of Texas, is a center for high-technology industry, and the city offers a high quality of life with abundant opportunities for outdoor activities, media, and music.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, machine learning, or a related discipline by August 2025.
- For tenure-track Assistant Professor positions, candidates are evaluated based on their potential for developing an impactful research program and for becoming excellent in teaching, mentoring, and service.
- For tenured Associate or Full Professor positions, candidates are expected to have established a strong and independent research program, with a record for excellence in teaching, mentoring, and service.
