The **Industrial Sanitation Specialist** is tasked with ensuring a pristine environment within the manufacturing facility, focusing primarily on the cleanliness of floors and designated storage areas for materials. This role involves the upkeep of cleaning machinery used for floor maintenance, external areas, and larger vacuum systems. The position will report directly to the **Plant Manager** and will provide assistance as required for various cleaning initiatives and some material handling within the production area.
Work Schedule: 1st Shift 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM Monday - Friday
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain all floor cleaning machinery (including mobile scrubbers, sweepers, and hand tools).
- Ensure all outdoor areas are maintained in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Provide support in basic material handling tasks as necessary.
- Complete all required documentation accurately.
- Adhere to general safety and cleanliness standards.
- Offer suggestions to management on enhancing the facility's cleanliness.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Competencies
- Previous experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
- Custodial experience is advantageous.
- Basic mechanical skills are required.
- A positive attitude is essential.
- Dependability and excellent attendance are crucial.
- Strong work ethic is expected.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Awareness of safety protocols and adherence to all safety guidelines.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
In the course of performing job duties, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and utilize hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; communicate verbally and/or audibly. Occasionally, the employee may need to sit. The role necessitates frequent lifting and/or moving of items weighing up to 60 pounds and occasionally managing up to 250 pounds with mechanical assistance. Specific vision requirements may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
This position mandates the use of personal protective equipment as dictated by the work environment, such as safety glasses, safety shoes, respirators, face shields, hearing protection, Tyvek suits, gloves, etc. There may be exposure to noise levels exceeding OSHA action levels. Proper personal safety equipment must be utilized in accordance with plant safety protocols. While performing job duties, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risks associated with electric shock and non-hazardous chemical agents. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles is expected. The employee may occasionally encounter hazardous materials as defined by OSHA Hazard Communication standards.
