Role Summary
The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-focused respiratory care in alignment with departmental needs and industry standards. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the Respiratory Therapist conducts diagnostic assessments and therapeutic interventions while monitoring patients on both invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including evaluating breath sounds and airway conditions.
- Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen delivery and aerosol treatments.
- Assist in the placement of artificial airways and manage mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patient responses to therapies and take appropriate actions as necessary.
- Support the safe transportation of patients requiring ventilatory assistance.
- Respond to emergency situations, ensuring airway integrity and ventilation during resuscitation efforts.
Qualifications:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required within 30 days of employment.
- Associate Degree or completion of a vocational program in respiratory therapy.
- State licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician.
