Food Service Worker Job Description

**Job Summary**

We are seeking an experienced Food Service Worker to join our team at Duke University. As a Food Service Worker, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of our food service operations.

**Key Responsibilities**

* Assist in setting up food stations and replenishing food items as needed
* Operate and provide service at interactive stations, such as build-your-own smoothie bars
* Serve and clear food and beverage quietly, professionally, and quickly, using proper serving and clearing techniques
* Maintain a clean and organized work area, and coordinate actions with the FOH Supervisor to ensure flawless customer service
* Manage time effectively and assist in managing inventory of equipment and with set up and breakdown of events

**Requirements**

* 1+ year of serving and/or front of house experience
* Experience in high volume catering or food service is preferred
* Excellent listening and communication skills
* Strong customer service skills with a desire to go above and beyond a client's needs
* Ability to work alone and as a team
* Strong attention to detail and ability to learn and adapt quickly

**Work Environment**

The work environment for this position will mainly attend to the Student Athlete Training Table located in Duke University's food hall or athletic venues. This position will move in and out of the kitchen and food service area, including but not limited to coolers, freezers, and other sanitary places. This position may also move throughout campus and stadium grounds on different terrains.

**Physical Demands**

* Prolonged periods of standing, moving through an event space, and traveling from venue to venue
* Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items
* Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting approximately 30 pounds

**Position Salary & Benefits**

* This is considered a part-time hourly position
* The schedule for this position may range depending on business needs but will often consist of either a morning shift covering breakfast operations or a later shift covering dinner service
