Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team at Madison Veterinary Specialists. As a key member of our emergency and critical care team, you will provide exceptional patient care, work collaboratively with our veterinarians and support staff, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing care to patients in the emergency and critical care units, including vital sign monitoring, medication administration, and wound care.
  • Assist veterinarians with medical procedures, such as intubation, sedation, and anesthesia.
  • Perform laboratory tests, including blood draws, urinalyses, and radiographs.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including patient histories, treatment plans, and test results.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and support staff to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Participate in emergency response situations, including CPR and critical care stabilization.
  • Provide education and support to clients on animal care and health.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of hospital policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Current CVT licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Wisconsin.
  • 5+ years of experience in emergency and critical care veterinary medicine.
  • Experience with Fear Free techniques and principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to lift and restrain patients up to 40 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • VTS certification in Emergency and Critical Care.
  • Experience with Infinity veterinary software.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
