We are seeking an experienced Plant Maintenance Operations Manager to join our team at Smithfield Foods. This is a challenging role that requires strong leadership and technical skills to manage a group of maintenance supervisors in support of building and equipment maintenance and repair.

About the Job:

This position involves determining strategies to reduce mechanical downtime and maintain maximum efficiency in our production lines. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective maintenance systems, including preventative and predictive maintenance, TPM, and other best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance Systems Management: Develop and implement maintenance systems associated with high performing manufacturing organizations, focusing on maximum plant capacity while minimizing costs.
  • Scheduling and Planning: Assign proper scheduling of work to maximize task completion with minimal plant disruption, reducing unscheduled downtime while lowering costs and increasing plant efficiency.
  • Maintenance Staff and Safety: Manage the maintenance staff through delegation, policy administration, assignment of work responsibilities, planning, organizing, directing, and follow-up of work assignments. Promote plant safety performance through training and enforcement of company policies.
  • Solutions and Support: Provide short-term solutions and day-to-day support to operating teams having issues with troubleshooting, problem analysis, equipment failures, etc.
Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, the ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 5+ years' relevant experience. A minimum of 2+ years' experience in a leadership position is also required.

The selected candidate must possess advanced technical skills in mechanical and electrical fields, including PLCs, instrumentation, and mechanical engineering. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, are essential.

Additionally, the successful candidate should have thorough knowledge of world-class maintenance management systems, work order processes, and preventive/predictive maintenance. They should also be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite and the Internet, as well as SAP software.

Compensation:

The estimated annual salary for this position is around $120,000-$150,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
