Objective: You are a sociable and communicative team player who leads by showing genuine care while also providing professional challenges. You will act as the primary contact in the adoption section, addressing common issues and concerns. Your contributions will help foster a culture of continuous improvement and inquiry.
Compensation: $18/hour
Benefits:

Work Schedule: Full-time; 40 hours per week
- Shifts are 8 hours long
- Weekend shifts: 9:45 AM - 6:15 PM
- Weekday shifts: 11:45 AM - 8:15 PM
- Preferred schedule: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday (with Monday and Wednesday off)
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership: Take ownership of outcomes, collaborate effectively, and ensure accountability within the team. Open and close the adoption center, coordinating daily tasks and schedules while exemplifying a coaching leadership style.
Customer Engagement: Welcome and address inquiries from both internal and external clients. Provide assistance and guidance throughout the adoption and hold processes. Manage merchandise sales and adoptions efficiently.
Effective Communication: Actively listen, pay attention, and responsibly manage information.
Team Support: Aid in mentoring, coaching, and training team members, managing schedules, maintaining time records, and leading staff meetings. Ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery while overseeing inventory levels and supporting animal care operations.
Workplace Culture: Promote an open and inclusive environment by embodying the organization's values and mission. Advocate for a culture of safety and encourage meaningful volunteer involvement.
Additional Duties: Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
What We Seek:
Availability: Regular and reliable attendance, punctuality, and flexibility to work during operational hours as determined by leadership, including evenings and weekends.
Experience: Previous leadership experience or a strong desire to lead is essential. Customer service experience is preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficient in computer usage, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
Adaptability: Ability to maintain professionalism and attention to detail in diverse situations, with a willingness to assist at various locations.
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a capacity to lead the team and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Physical and Emotional Resilience: Capability to manage the physical and emotional demands of working in an animal shelter environment, including assisting with euthanasia. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and demonstrate a high level of resilience.
