Job Summary

The Department of the Navy is seeking a highly skilled Project Superintendent to oversee the planning and execution of nuclear and non-nuclear ship overhaul and repair projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the overall effectiveness of these projects in terms of cost, quality, and timeliness of completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the planning and execution of nuclear and non-nuclear ship overhaul and repair projects
  • Ensure the overall effectiveness of these projects in terms of cost, quality, and timeliness of completion
  • Direct and assure the success of the overhaul by being the direct liaison with all levels of Shipyard management and through subordinate levels of supervision
  • Provide information and advice regarding project schedules, budget estimates, changes in production techniques or standards, and equipment and facility requirements
  • Plan work assignments considering trades involved, availability of manpower and equipment, deadlines, and other work projects
  • Manage the material and overtime programs to assure proper execution, and recommend cost-saving improvements
  • Implement policy developed at higher levels and assign or hold responsible those organizations accountable for proper execution of the overhaul
  • Coordinate employee assignments with other trades, engineers, military advisors, superintendents, and managers
Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Qualifications
  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs
  • Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment
  • Education: This job does not have an education qualification requirement
