About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mold Design Engineer to join our team at SKF Aerospace Sealing Solutions (SASS) in Elgin, IL. As a key member of our Design Engineering group, you will play a critical role in the development of elastomeric products for the aerospace industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop molds in accordance with internal design standards, AS9100 procedures, and good machine design practices.
  • Support cross-functional teams to develop and validate the design and manufacture of elastomeric products.
  • Use analytical tools to predict mold shrinkage and mold flow.
  • Assist in resolution of manufacturing issues related to molds.
  • Design of assembly tools and inspection fixtures.
  • Interface with manufacturing engineering to assist in diagnosis of manufacturing problems and reduce scrap.
  • Ability to create design documentation to a high quality level.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology or Mold Design.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (ITAR/EAR Compliant).
  • Experience with engineering drawings and parametric 3D modeling systems.
  • Excellent spoken, written communications and PC skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Works with minimal daily supervision.
  • Must be able to work as an individual and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of rubber molding.
  • A strong background in machining and tool-making technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software programs.
  • PTC ProEngineer/Creo and Windchill.
