Job Title: Occupational Health Nurse

UPMC Corporate Services is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Health Nurse to join our team in the UPMC Brady Building in Harrisburg, PA.

Job Summary:

The Occupational Health Nurse will be responsible for providing direct patient care and clinical services to staff members of the UPMC Health System. This includes pre-placement evaluations, medical surveillance programs, work injuries associated with bloodborne pathogens, infectious disease exposures, and other employee health-related interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate medical surveillance programs, including TB skin testing, respiratory protection programs, and specific exposure-related testing and surveillance initiatives.
  • Assist with efforts to ensure regulatory compliance, including JCAHO, Department of Health, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Provide clinical services, including obtaining vital signs, reviewing medication history, assisting providers with medical treatments, and engaging staff in health promotion activities.
  • Support quality improvement, cost containment, and customer service-oriented initiatives of the organization.
  • Manage exposure evaluations and follow-up treatment for staff infectious disease exposures and/or bloodborne pathogen exposures.
  • Act as a resource for client employees and coordinate employee health efforts with various departments, including Human Resources, Infection Control, Safety, and Administration.
  • Maintain confidentiality of medical information and document interventions and treatment in the appropriate database/medical record system.
  • Support a proactive, multidisciplinary team approach directed toward prevention, education, and health promotion.
Requirements:
  • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement.
  • CPR certification based on AHA standards, including both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • Act 34 clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum six months experience as an Occupational Health Nurse.
  • BSN degree.
