Oncology Charge Nurse

Position Overview

As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Oncology Charge Nurse plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care within the oncology department. This position involves overseeing unit staffing and providing leadership to nursing and support staff, all while maintaining high standards of clinical objectives and quality care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise nursing and support personnel during assigned shifts.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to staff.
  • Assess patient care requirements and allocate assignments accordingly, ensuring tailored care for diverse patient populations.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of patient care and proactively address any issues impacting patient outcomes.
  • Manage patient care complaints through established protocols.
  • Contribute to the hiring, training, and development of nursing staff.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Current BLS certification required within one month of hire.
  • Active Registered Nurse license from the relevant state board required prior to employment.

Education and Experience:

  • Professional licensure and a minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in oncology nursing is highly desirable.
  • Previous charge nurse or leadership experience is preferred.
  • Certification in chemotherapy administration is a plus.
