Pulmonary Diagnostics Respiratory Therapist

Job Summary:
The Pulmonary Diagnostics Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing quality respiratory care to patients, including routine and complex procedures, using a wide variety of techniques and equipment. This role collaborates with the multidisciplinary team and communicates effectively with others to ensure patient care meets quality standards established by the hospital, department, and regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assesses patients' clinical status, evaluates progress toward goals, and recommends courses of action to determine a plan of care.
- Plans for patients' respiratory care needs in collaboration with other members of the care team to provide the highest quality of clinical outcomes.
- Safely performs various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established standards, procedural guidelines, and policies to provide safe patient care.
- Analyzes critical situations and applies appropriate judgment and critical thinking to achieve problem resolution.
- Accurately and reliably interprets and communicates patient results to support patient care.
- Documents interventions performed and response to therapies in the electronic medical record to result in compliant and useful documentation.
- Interacts with and explains therapeutic modalities to patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team in an understandable manner based on learning styles and individual diversity to ensure collaborative care coordination.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree
- Current Florida Respiratory Therapist Licensure
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NRBC)
- Must be a graduate from a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the Commission of Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
- No experience required for New graduate Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Current PALS certification from the American Heart Association or must be obtained within 120-day orientation period
- Current NRP certification if working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
