Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Victim Liaison Specialist to join our team at the State of Montana. As a key member of our department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of victims of crime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate interagency safety planning for victims of high-risk offenders, including those confined in correctional facilities or living in the community under supervision.
  • Receive and evaluate referrals from multiple sources identifying offender behavior indicating risk to victims, and assess the need for intervention.
  • Develop and implement safety plans in collaboration with victims, their support networks, and community-based service providers.
  • Provide crisis counseling, intervention, and follow-up support to victims, as well as personal and legal advocacy, order of protection assistance, and notification registration information.
  • Collaborate with Probation and Parole Officers to ensure that information from victims is appropriately considered and integrated into the offender supervision process.
  • Develop and maintain a network of collaborative partnerships with victim advocates, criminal justice agencies, and other community-based service providers to support victim safety during offender reintegration.
  • Assess the capacity of local agencies to meet the needs of crime victims and participate in local networking and service coordination meetings to develop a stronger local service network.
  • Provide training to prisons, community partners, and field staff on Victim Services Program functions and respond effectively to the needs of crime victims.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in a position providing services to victims of crime, or a total of five years of experience in a related field.
  • Credentialing within 18 months of start date.
