Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator

Community and Family Resources is in search of a Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator to deliver educational and preventive services aligned with established grants and contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the prevention team and supervisor to formulate service objectives and goals based on specific funding sources.
- Conduct professional training sessions for the public, community coalitions, local agencies, support groups, and educational institutions on effective prevention strategies. This includes training educators, employers, human service professionals, and community members to foster changes in community attitudes and norms.
- Support community coalitions in implementing environmental modifications within their neighborhoods. This encompasses training coalition members on recruitment and advocacy concerning substance abuse, tobacco use, and gambling.
- Maintain positive public relations between the agency's prevention initiatives and community resources.
- Deliver group presentations in educational settings, industries, community organizations, and human services regarding substance abuse, tobacco, and gambling.
- Provide support, consultation, and coordination to local communities, task forces, and agencies to unify and align all funded program requirements.
- Recruit and manage qualified volunteers and coalition members.
- Stay updated on new developments related to problem gambling and substance abuse prevention.
- Complete tasks in a timely manner as directed by the Prevention Supervisor.
- Type: Full-time
- Hours: 40 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends.
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Community Health, Human Services, or a related discipline.
- Two years of experience in education, training, public relations, or community activism, or three years in a human service agency is preferred.
- Must possess a Certified Prevention Specialist designation or be able to obtain certification within 18 months of hire.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
