Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Certified Nursing Assistant to join our Medical Surgical Unit team at Care New England Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general patient care, including assisting with personal hygiene and performing routine activities as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  • Initiate, assemble, and maintain accurate functional charts for all patients in the assigned unit.
  • Transcribe written physician orders and complete all necessary forms, requisitions, and communications necessary to implement orders and record clinical data.
  • Maintain patients' medical records in an orderly manner and document all care provided and significant information, legibly, accurately, and completely.
  • Observe assigned patients and report any patient care problems, change in patient condition, or unexpected occurrences to the RN/Team Leader.
  • Maintain a proper inventory of supplies needed to provide continuous service, minimizing downtime and maintaining a safe, clean, and functional working environment in the nursing station and nursing area.
  • Screen visitors, telephone calls, incoming mail, and other correspondence. Answer inquiries on procedures and policies relating to departmental functions.
  • Prepare patient charts and deliver to Medical Records upon discharge of the patient or to the Nursing office upon expiration of the patient.
  • Maintain up-to-date records on computer for Bed Management.
  • Access lab results from the computer for the physician.
  • File documents following standard procedures.
  • Give enemas, reinforce simple non-sterile dressings, apply binders, collect specimens, apply heat or cold devices, and perform other routine tasks.
  • Assist the RN or LPN in caring for seriously ill patients or in complicated treatments or procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars, in-services, and reading journals.
Requirements

Vocational/technical training and more than six months of job-related experience or equivalent is required. Certified Nursing Assistant Certification, basic computer skills, and medical terminology are also required.
