Key Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Director of Product Safety and Regulatory Compliance, your primary responsibility will be to assist in coordinating and executing product safety initiatives, particularly focusing on Lithium-Ion Battery Packs and Battery Chargers.
Your Impact:
- Conduct Hazard Analysis Reviews (HARs) and perform comprehensive product safety evaluations.
- Provide expert advice to Project Leaders, Engineers, and Designers on safety requirements, including necessary tests and design constraints to mitigate risks of injury or property damage.
- Engage with external customers regarding product safety issues.
- Carry out inspections and failure analyses on returned products, compiling and reporting findings.
Testing Oversight:
- Supervise product safety testing, including the preparation of test samples, execution of tests, and analysis of data.
- Review and offer feedback on operator manuals and product markings.
- Assist the Department Director in managing product recalls.
- Stay informed about the latest OSHA regulations and industry safety standards, providing interpretations when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 5-7 years of experience in product safety activities, particularly with lithium-ion batteries, battery chargers, power tools, or similar consumer products.
- Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills are essential for effective communication.
- A keen focus on adhering to schedules and attention to detail is crucial.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
