Role Summary

The Kitchen Operations Leader acts as the primary back-of-house manager in the absence of the Executive Chef. This role encompasses supervising and mentoring kitchen staff while ensuring compliance with our culinary standards and operational efficiency. The Kitchen Operations Leader is pivotal in managing kitchen activities and enhancing guest satisfaction during service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily culinary operations and ensure smooth kitchen workflow.
  • Conduct ingredient quality checks to maintain freshness and standards.
  • Foster a positive kitchen culture and uphold professional standards.
  • Implement and refine seasonal recipes and menu items.
  • Collaborate with management to deliver exceptional dining experiences.
  • Ensure that plate presentation aligns with our high standards and delights our guests.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate the back-of-house team.
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and ensure proper functionality.
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and stock control.
  • Assist with scheduling and onboarding of new team members.
  • Implement strategies for minimizing food waste.
  • Coordinate kitchen supply needs effectively.

Qualifications

  • Culinary Arts degree is preferred.
  • Team-oriented with strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Minimum of two years of back-of-house management experience in a high-volume restaurant.
  • Proficient in technology, including MS Office and restaurant management software.
  • Exemplary knife skills with the ability to train others.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and success in team management.
  • Fluency in English; bilingual skills are a plus.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to stand and move efficiently for extended periods, reach, bend, and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time hourly position, typically requiring a 40-hour work week, with additional scheduled hours as needed.
