We are currently seeking a part-time, per diem Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Sleep Technician with a minimum of two years of clinical experience. This role may involve overnight shifts, and candidates with a keen interest in the Clinical Research field will find this position particularly rewarding. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and motivated to learn, as we are constantly evolving and exploring new therapeutic areas. Responsibilities of Sleep Technicians at Revival Research Institute include fostering an inclusive environment that respects diverse perspectives, as well as assisting investigators and clinical staff with various study-related tasks, such as:
SLEEP STUDY PREPARATION AND SET-UP
- Reviewing patient histories and confirming medical orders.
- Adhering to sleep center protocols for study procedures.
- Verifying patient identification and obtaining consent upon arrival.
- Explaining procedures and orienting patients for sleep testing.
- Selecting and calibrating equipment for optimal testing performance.
- Applying electrodes and sensors in accordance with established standards.
- Conducting routine fittings for positive airway pressure (PAP) interfaces.
PROCEDURES
- Implementing procedural protocols (e.g., MSLT, MWT, parasomnia studies) to ensure accurate data collection.
- Performing physiological calibrations to guarantee signal integrity.
- Documenting baseline values and monitoring study quality.
- Recording observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, to assist in polysomnographic scoring.
- Executing necessary interventions for patient safety and therapeutic needs.
- Completing data collection processes and ensuring the integrity of collected data.
- Assisting in scoring sleep/wake stages and clinical events using AASM standards.
- Generating accurate reports based on collected data.
- Providing age-specific care and education across various patient demographics.
- Preparing portable monitoring equipment and ensuring proper data handling.
- Educating patients on out-of-center sleep testing protocols.
- Maintaining cleanliness and disinfection of monitoring devices.
- Scoring portable monitoring recordings and identifying any issues.
SERVICE MANAGEMENT AND PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
- Complying with laws and regulations regarding safety and infection control.
- Conducting routine equipment maintenance and inventory checks.
- Maintaining current CPR or BCLS certification.
- Exhibiting effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrating customer service and teamwork abilities.
- Adhering to HIPAA policies to protect patient information.
- Responding to patient inquiries with appropriate information.
- Following quality assurance protocols specific to the sleep center.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of a sleep technology program from a state-licensed or nationally accredited institution.
OR
A minimum of six months of experience as a sleep trainee with documented proficiency in required competencies.
OR
Possession of a Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) credential or equivalent.
