Job Summary

We are seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our team at Fresenius Medical Care North America. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our patients and healthcare team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide safe and effective dialysis therapy to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, test, and operate hemodialysis machines for patient treatments
  • Obtain and document necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight for each patient
  • Evaluate vascular access pre-treatment and perform vascular access cannulation
  • Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed by physician order or as directed
  • Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy
  • Evaluate patient prior to termination of venous access and discontinues dialysis treatment according to established procedures
  • Reports any significant information and/or change in patient condition directly to supervisor
  • Enter all treatment data into the designated clinical application in an accurate and timely manner
  • Collect, label, appropriately prepare, and store lab samples according to required laboratory specifications
  • Clean and disinfect dialysis machine surface, chair, equipment, and surrounding area between treatments according to facility policy
  • Assist other healthcare members in providing patient education
  • Prepare, organize, and efficiently use supplies and equipment to prevent waste
Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility (preferred but not required)
  • Continued employment is dependent on successful completion of the Fresenius Medical Care dialysis training program and successful completion of CPR certification
