Job Overview

The Christman Company is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Project Superintendent to join our team in the greater Southeast Michigan region. As a key member of our project management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Superintendent in overseeing the day-to-day operations of construction projects, ensuring timely completion, and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Perform safety audits and lead all safety measures on-site, including coordinating with trades and subcontractors.
  • Provide direct supervision to hourly field employees, focusing on carpentry, concrete, general labor, and other areas as needed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of hourly labor timesheets.
  • Maintain knowledge of required materials for safety efforts and self-performed work, coordinating procurement through the field office staff.
  • Produce and distribute Daily Reports, maintaining awareness of shop drawing information and overseeing correct installations.
  • Assist in implementing and executing our Quality Assurance Program.
  • Schedule work activities, creating look-ahead schedules and collaborating with the project team to update the project master schedule.
  • Participate in jobsite meetings with subcontractors and Owner/Architect/Contractor teams to stay informed about schedule and potential changes.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Construction Management or a related field.
  • Completion of a trade school or apprenticeship program in a related field.
  • Three (3) years of work experience in a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Prior experience as a construction foreman or equivalent role.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The majority of work is completed outside at the construction site and in an office trailer. The position requires occasional standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Must be able to talk, hear, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and operate a telephone and keyboard. Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
