About the Role

The Nursing Supervisor supervises and directs the activities of Brewster Village staff. Performs related duties including preparing reports, assisting with resident care, responding to emergencies, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Monitors compliance with facility policies and procedures, and Federal and State regulations.
  • Prepares various verbal and written reports.
  • Responds to emergencies on all neighborhoods.
  • Assists staff nurses with medications, treatments and villager assessments when necessary.
  • Assists with the training of new employees; in-services employees as required.
  • Receives MD orders, and ensures they are carried out.
  • Investigates villager and employee accidents and incidents; completes reports as required; notifies MD and family or guardian.
  • Evaluates, supervises, and provides direct villager care.
  • Reports infections to Infection Control Nurse, and implements precautions as necessary.
  • Provides knowledge and direction to staff in all households, assures that the households have needed resources
  • Ensures that all households participate in Quality Improvement and that appropriate follow up is taken to assure quality outcomes, performs professional audits and observations to confirm the competency of all household staff.
  • Promotes empowerment of the team in providing resident centered care, participates in team problem solving, monitors team members performance and provides feedback through coaching and counseling.
  • Keeps the overall function of the household running smoothly.
  • Provides leadership and vision to the household by serving as a role model, collaborates with others.
  • Maintains a safe, comfortable and functional environment by assessing the household for potential hazards, implements practices utilizing appropriate techniques regarding sanitation, infection control, fire safety, disaster preparedness and emergency care, investigates and reports all incidents and accidents, and observes the team for safe work habits.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance/works overtime/extra hours as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Participates as a member of Quality Improvement committees as assigned.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse, with three to five years nursing experience.
  • Previous Nursing Leadership experience preferred.
  • Or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must maintain current certification in adult CPR.
  • This position does require successful completion of a Post Offer Pre Employment Examination (POPE).
