Position Overview:


La Rabida is currently looking for a Full-Time Outpatient Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) to become part of our outpatient nursing department.

We are a specialized children's acute care facility dedicated to addressing complex medical conditions, chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities, and trauma.

Our nursing staff is dedicated to delivering outstanding patient care to children while assisting families in navigating unique challenges.

The Staff Registered Nurses will report to nursing leadership.

The RN role emphasizes the development of skills to guide the nurse through a spectrum of basic patient care to more intricate assignments, assessing the needs of chronically ill children through effective communication with patients, families, and team members.

The RN employs the nursing process within a family-centered interdisciplinary framework to coordinate care and achieve team objectives.

Key Responsibilities of the Staff Registered Nurse:

  • Conduct and document initial and ongoing assessments
  • Implement interventions and evaluate them against desired outcomes
  • Exhibit unit-specific skills and competencies
  • Follow the chain of command for issue resolution
  • Provide education to patients and families
  • Delegate patient care tasks to other team members
  • Approach patient care with a family-centered perspective
  • Work diligently to expand possibilities for our patients
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of pediatric nursing or pediatric emergency department experience required
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • State of Illinois nursing license required
  • CPR certification is mandatory; only certifications from The American Heart Association or The American Red Cross will be accepted
  • Exhibit service excellence behaviors
  • Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills
  • Encourage collaboration among healthcare team members
  • Complete all mandatory education and in-services within the designated timeframe
