The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) is dedicated to providing exceptional services that connect residents and visitors to life's opportunities. We are currently seeking a qualified individual to assume the role of Manager of Audits and Investigations within the Office of Audits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operations of the Office of Audits, managing staff engaged in internal audits and investigations across various Transportation Business Units (TBUs).
  • Coordinate and evaluate investigations related to allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse.
  • Conduct and supervise special projects as directed by audit management.
  • Facilitate the development of an annual audit plan, ensuring comprehensive coverage of TSO departments and MDOT Modes.
  • Implement periodic risk assessments to proactively identify vulnerabilities within MDOT TSO.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all MDOT Audit Offices regarding audit software matters.
  • Manage an investigations database to track key performance indicators and provide analysis for executive management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: A bachelor’s degree in accounting, auditing, public or business administration, finance, economics, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years in professional accounting, auditing, budgeting, or financial management, with at least four (4) years in a managerial capacity overseeing operational, financial, compliance, and performance audits.

The ideal candidate will possess strong oral and written communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills.
