Job Overview:
We are in search of a proficient Mechanical Engineer specializing in battery thermal management systems tailored for battery electric locomotives.

The ideal candidate will spearhead initiatives aimed at cost reduction and material optimization, employing innovative methodologies to boost efficiency and minimize expenses within the framework of locomotive thermal management systems.


Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee and implement cost-saving projects associated with battery thermal management systems utilized in battery electric locomotives.

Employ established cost-reduction techniques such as Functional Analysis System Technique (FAST) and Should Cost Analysis to pinpoint feasible cost-saving opportunities.

Collaborate with Sourcing and Manufacturing departments to deliberate and execute cost-saving strategies on locomotives.
Direct and monitor cost-saving projects, ensuring compliance with the company's design review protocols.
Select suitable metallic and non-metallic materials for coolant piping, connections, and support frameworks.
Formulate Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and develop Verification and Validation plans for designated projects.
Facilitate and assist in validation processes in line with company standards, ensuring successful execution in relevant laboratories.
Lead and manage cost-saving initiatives, encompassing design, analysis, validation, and production rollout.
Work closely with both internal and external suppliers to address product modification requests, quality issues, and shop support.
Assist manufacturing and supply chain teams to guarantee high manufacturability, making necessary updates to drawings and models.
Oversee work assignments of moderate to high complexity, achieving short-term goals and efficiently resolving challenges.
Prepare and present technical information to both internal and external stakeholders.
Document and relay testing and analysis outcomes.
Engage in teams assigned to specific organizational projects.
Encourage open communication and information sharing across teams.
Prepare invention disclosures to safeguard proprietary technologies.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years in mechanical engineering, particularly focusing on liquid-cooled thermal management systems.
Demonstrated experience in designing piping systems for engine cooling, power electronics cooling, or battery cooling applications.
In-depth understanding of packaging requirements for high voltage equipment.
Expertise in heat transfer methodologies, including conduction, natural convection, and forced convection.
Experience with 3D CAD modeling software.
Proficiency in finite element analysis tools for mechanical loads, such as Ansys.

Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills.
Capability to operate in heavy industrial manufacturing and laboratory settings.
Adept at setting up instrumentation and testing apparatus and conducting validation tests on large industrial vehicles.

Compensation:


The pay rate range above is the base hourly pay range that Aditi Consulting reasonably expects to pay someone for this position (compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including but not limited to, a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, location and end client requirements).
