Job Summary

The Development Officer position at Williams College is a critical role in securing philanthropic support for the institution's growth and development. As a key member of the Advancement team, you will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and cultivating major donors to support the college's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Donor Engagement: Qualify, engage, and educate a portfolio of approximately 200 alumni and family prospects to secure major gifts in support of the college's strategic priorities.
  • Prospect Identification: Surface leads for the major gifts team and contribute to the growth of the annual fund leadership giving population.
  • Event Planning and Execution: Plan and host events, including campaign-related and regional events, to foster relationships with donors and prospects.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with colleagues and alumni throughout the Williams community and beyond to advance the college's fundraising goals.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience working in, with, and for non-profit organizations (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Skills and Qualifications: Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills; experience as a relationship builder and collaborator; and direct experience in soliciting, negotiating, and closing leadership gifts.
