Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Forensics & Building Science team. As a Mechanical Engineer - Forensics, you will work closely with Professional Engineers (P.E.) to gain experience towards testing for your future P.E. license.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct lab reviews of client-provided components/parts for testing, analysis, subrogation, and report creation.
  • Perform online research for specific individual projects, including design specs, mechanical building code, permits, weather, sales, and satellite data.
  • Visit locations to conduct forensic analysis and provide professional opinions.
  • Document and maintain laboratory research for future publications promoting NV5.
  • Assist engineers in monitoring and continuously updating scheduling for site visits, pre-site visit desk review meetings, depositions, and trial prep sessions.
  • Manage new project management and teamwork updates, including CAD (structure drawings) and post-site visit photo and document management.
  • Write reports and prepare for presentations.
  • Perform plumbing system assessments, HVAC system failure analysis, psychrometric analysis, and efficiency analysis for HVAC systems.
Requirements
  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
  • EIT certificate is a plus.
  • 2+ years of relevant or transferrable experience within Forensics, Construction, HVAC Systems, and/or Mechanical, Electrical Plumbing (MEP).
